FAITH CHAPEL’S VISION

Faith Chapel is group of Christians with the desire to establish a new church in southeast Guilford County.  We are a chapel of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.  We recognize and respect the churches in the area that are already established, and we want to be good neighbors.  But there are still unchurched people in the area, and we believe that their numbers are likely to increase.  We feel that God is leading us to plant a new church, and in so doing to seek to reach unchurched people, and not growth by transfers from other churches.

We hope to establish a strong, vibrant church that will be faithful in doing the things that Christ has called every church to do, that is, to communicate the Gospel to all who will hear it, to preach and teach the “whole counsel of God,” to worship our God in joy and reverence, to show the compassion of Christ to the needy and downcast, to support and engage in Christian missionary endeavors, and to become and to be a caring extended family to one another.  We feel called and led to establish a church that is evangelical, Presbyterian and Reformed.  By “evangelical” we mean that we believe the Bible is God’s holy Word, and that there is no way to acceptance and communion with God except through the Son of God, Jesus of Nazareth. By “Presbyterian” we mean that we believe our church should be governed by elders, and should exist in accountable relationship with other like-minded churches. By “Reformed” we mean that we are in agreement with the understanding of the Bible that has come down to us from the fathers of the Protestant Reformation and has found expression in the great Reformed confessions, especially the Westminster Confession.  It is our earnest desire not just to confess this faith, but to live it, with hope, zeal and passion, following after Christ as closely as we are able, genuinely caring for one another, and for our neighbor.

WITH GOD’S HELP, WE ARE SEEKING TO BECOME A CHURCH THAT WILL BE:

First of all, people who know the saving grace of God and are serious about seeking, understanding, and walking with God, growing in His grace, and living to glorify and enjoy Him.

A worshipping church, engaging in worship that is biblical, reverent and joyful.  Our worship will be shaped by and filled with the Scriptures—we will read, pray, preach and sing them. We believe that in worship we approach a holy God, and must do so with reverence. But we also approach a Savior God, and therefore worship should also be joyful.

An extended family, relatives in Christ, who are welcoming and hospitable, who want true friendships with one another and who truly care about their neighbors.

A church with a mission, actively and passionately intent on making known the good news of salvation in Christ—here and around the world.

A praying church because God answers prayers and only He can build His church.

A church with a heart, involved in caring for the needy, the lonely, the widow, the orphan, the downcast.

A church involved in the community and communities of southeast Guilford and northern Randolph Counties, so that others will be glad we are here.
